The Deen Dayal Upadhyay University of Gorakhpur, also known as Gorakhpur University, is a residential-cum-affiliating University located in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. Though the University started functioning from 1st September 1957 with four faculties of Arts, Commerce, Law and Education, it was officially established in 1965 by an Act of the Uttar Pradesh legislature. The Faculty of Science was instituted in 1958 which was progressively followed the faculties of Engineering, Medicine and Agriculture.

Facilities:
The University site, spread over an area of 300 acres, includes teaching and residential campuses. The residential zone has more than 125 quarters for teachers, officials of the University and non-teaching staff. There are four boys’ hostels and one complex with three wings for the girls with facilities such as reading-cum-TV room, games, and others. Others buildings include Central Library, Arts Block, Administrative Block, Law Faculty, Student’s Union building, Gymnasium hall, Health Centre, Computer Centre and Research Buildings for Chemistry, Zoology, and Botany. Every discipline offered in the university has separate buildings i.e. every department including Commerce, Education Faculties, Home Science, Psychology, Ancient History, Sociology, Geography, Hindi, Fine Arts and Music, Adult Education, and Political Science.
