Fashion TV news Indian Government bans Fashion TV for 9 days after finding a program it aired offended good taste and decency by showing women partially nude The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting bans Fashion TV
The Information and Broadcasting Ministry statement said FTV channel would go off the air later Thursday until March 21. The statement cited an unnamed FTV program aired in September that showed women with nude upper bodies.
FTV, an international channel based in Vienna, could not be immediately reached for comment.
India banned the same channel in 2007 for 60 days over programs such as ``Midnight Hot,'' showing scantily clad models.

The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has prohibited transmission/re-transmission of FTV Channel from 7.00 p.m. on March 12, 2010, till 7.00 p.m. on March 21, 2010, through cable television networks and any other platforms throughout the country, the ministry informed in a statement.
A programme on the channel on September 4, 2009, telecast at 3.57 p.m. and 7.01 p.m. showing women with nude upper body has landed FTV in the fresh controversy, with the ministry describing the programme as ‘offending against good taste and decency’.
The visuals were found to be obscene, denigrating women and were not suitable for children and unrestricted public exhibition, the ministry said.
In the past also, the Ministry had prohibited transmission or re-transmission of FTV from April 1, 2007, to May 30, 2007, on grounds of telecasting programmes such as ‘Midnight Hot’ wherein skimpily dressed and semi-naked models were shown.
The prohibition was, however, revoked on May 25, 2007, after FTV.com India Channel regretted their error and assured that such an error will not be repeated in future.
